A Creative Mind

For those of you with a “creative mind” (and I put this in parenthesis because I have never really viewed myself as artsy or creative, just productive really) anyway…do you ever find yourself with a million ideas running through your head resulting in loss of sleep?? This is where I find myself for the second night in a row. Granted I got plenty of sleep last night but I am up at 3am trying to get my ideas onto paper, making mistakes in my work because I’m still not awake, and learning something new; always.

Easter BAG-skets!

This year for Easter I wanted to create something for the girls that would last for a few years. I decided on bags. These were so fun to make and I used scrap fabric and one download from Planet Applique (with the points I have saved from buying their great stuff it only cost me 28 cents!) The bags are fully lined and have a fleece batting so they are thick and soft! I only wish I used material that didn't wrinkle so easily. I'm having a hard time getting it smooth and it's driving me crazy! Next time I make these I'm going to buy a stiffer fabric.

Treat Bags!

With Easter right around the corner, and me being as last minute as usual, I began looking for ideas for cute little treat bags. I came across a blogger by the name of Ayumi and her blog the Pink Penguin. She has a tutorial for the cutest little bags that could be used for so many things! I made two of my own. One we are using for my daughter’s crayons and the other we are giving to a neighbor because Neema wanted her friend to have a matching “purse”. This was a great way to use up some scrap fabric and hold some loose crayons, 2 birds, 1 stone!

For one bag I went according to the tutorial, for the second I made the handles a tad bit longer. If you are giving the bags to someone with little fingers the longer handles may work better. These bags can be used for so many things! I see me making a lot more in the future! Thanks Pink Penguin for the great tutorial! On a side note, if you do decided to make these bags, make sure they are for personal use only.

I'm Baaaccck!! Portabellopixie Dress, The Analise

I started this blog with the best of intentions of keeping you up to date on the fun projects I’ve been creating. Well, life got in the way and this got pushed to the back burner. Thanks to Facebook I could at least show pics to my few friends who even view this blog ;-) With continuing my education, the change of jobs my husband went through, the move to a new city and everything else in between I have not had the time or the energy to keep this up. But, thankfully, things seem to be settling down some and I have a renewed since of creativity! I have many projects lining up in my mind; I just hope to find the time to get them all created.

Take a look at this super cute dress. It’s the Analise from Portabellopixie. You can find their wonderful patterns here. I made Anya’s first and decided to embroider an “A” on the bodice, and for Neema’s I wanted to keep it a little simple because I felt the fabric was so busy. The fabric is a mix of Michael Miller and Moda. I actually bought this fabric last year in the summer and have not had the time to sew it until this spring. But so happy I finally got to use it and Neema asks to wear it all the time!
